Love Notes

Happy Tuesday!   Apparently September 26 is Love Note Day!  I kind of really love this fact.

Even if I currently don’t have someone writing me love notes, I am entirely wrapped up in the romanticism of it.   I read I Love You, Ronnie in high school at least 3 times. Knowing that they were notes and letters exchanging in real life, and not just trite words put together for a movie scene, meant so much more.

I’m sure there is a “Love Letter Day” too but “note” sounds much less overwhelming than writing some sweeping monologue professing your feelings for someone. I’m considering them both equals for our sake.

The definition according to the all-knowing Wikipedia is quite lovely:

“A love letter is a romantic way to express feelings of love in written form. Whether delivered by hand, mail, carrier pigeon, or romantically left in a secret location, the letter may be anything from a short and simple message of love to a lengthy explanation of feelings.”

The idea of finding a sweet little note left just for you is wonderful.  You know that feeling you get when someone surprises you?  A love note is simple, free, and meaningful.  It could be three words written on a notecard.  Or even a lipstick print left on a napkin, if you’re into that sort of thing. 💋 (I use this emoji a lot…it makes me feel saucy.)

It doesn’t have to be a romantic note to count.  Your mom or friends could write you a sentimental word or two.  Strictly platonic but down right appreciated.  Hopefully…unless you’re an evil cynic who scoffs at the slightest hint of affection. Even at the height of my cynicism, I loved things such as these, reading every Nicholas Sparks novel and crying during most of them.   It’s always possible to find love anywhere.  We just sometimes forget that how special it is or how it makes another feel when we do something kind.

Don’t feel like waiting passively for someone to slip you one?  Want one for yourself? (Allow…)

I love Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Love Notes card deck.  Colorful illustrations like these make me smile just looking at them.

They’re perfect when you want a mantra or a little guidance for your day.  The cards have bright pictures to go with each scene and description.  This are two I pulled today.  One for myself and one for my mom.

Kris Carr has stage four cancer and has stayed healthy (as healthy as you can be) for over a decade because of her radical lifestyle change.  She’s a great resource for any kind of vegan, juicing, mindfulness practice you’re interested in too!  Check out her site or any of her books.  I’ve watched her talks and interviews and always feel inspired after listening.  Try Kris Carr: 3 Things We All Need to Learn About Self-Acceptance … for a starter.

Now I leave you with some random pics of my weekend adventure at Cherry Crest Farm.  I’m going back!  There was so much more than just a great corn maze, which changes every year.  2017 was Charlotte’s Web themed.  Yes, the corn was in the shape of Wilbur, spiderwebs, and Charlotte!  So many adult games like this massive Connect 4!  They had human-sized Lincoln Logs for you to build houses!  The best apple cider doughnuts I’ve ever had (we may have had two apiece…) Soooo much more to name.  If you have any kids in the fam or just want a fun weekend mini-trip, I highly recommend it!IMG_4963

Goats that had their own playground! IMG_4960IMG_4959Ducks with Adirondack chairs for lounging.IMG_4961

I was so into the baby chicks.  I forgot how soft they are, you know, since like 5th grade when we raised chicken in class.IMG_5005

.  Don’t you love the subtle Tyson sign in the background?  I guess there’s no mistaking where they’ll end up…IMG_5027.JPGSeriously obsessed.  It’s like a puppy; if they stayed that little and cute I’d keep one forever and let it roam around my roomIMG_5026

It’s also Lumberjack day.  Here’s hoping I get a love note from a hot lumberjack.   I’m picturing the cast of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, doing bell kicks while splitting wood.  Heck, I’d settle for a post-it from a cute man wearing flannel.

Make someone’s day and write them a love note!
